This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The left side has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a subscription.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a subscription.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!
Are you using Poser? I have, you might say, a professional interest in it. If you check out my page and go back you'll get some Sherlock art. (The latest stuff is all androids.) I've been trying to make a Sherlock model in Poser, but I can't get it to look like Jeremy Brett, so forget it. BTW, I'm on holmesslash too. You do neat stuff. And you obviously have a better computer than I do.

Yes, it's mostly Poser, but I've graduated to Carrara recently, and I occasionally use Vue. My computer is pretty high-end, but it's more than two years old now, so I expect it's not that high-classed anymore compared with recent models. (Pentium IV, dual-core, 3.4 gig processor and 2 gig RAM).
Making a model from scratch is hard work (never done it myself), but you can do a lot if you use the right base model and do the rest with morphs and texture maps. Also, Poser offers the morph brush which lets to shape the mesh and do morphs that aren't in the original model, so you can actually come very close to making him look like a given person. I'd recommend Apollo Maximus. He's free, and he has a lot of built-in morphs. (My Holmes and Watson are both based on Apollo).
May I ask what it is you do with Poser professionally? I'm currently trying to move to freelance-ism and actually get paid for this stuff, lol.
I don't use it professionally. I'm going to go to college for CGI animation, but Poser started me on it. I downloaded it off the internet--no instruction manual, had to learn it all myself. My current obsession is androids. I'm writing a whole epic about them, and my webpage is covered with Poser pictures of them, if you want to check it out. I'm pretty good with Photoshop, too, so lots of it is photoshop.
Hey, my computer's two years old too. It's a Toshiba Satellite laptop.
The original reason I wrote to you is because I was working on a Holmes model too, and if I put some pictures of him up you wouldn't get mad, would you? Don't worry, mine aren't going to be nearly as, uh, graphic. Not that there's anything wrong with being graphic, I just don't think I can do it yet. Besides, right now all my props are science fiction props.
So where do you get ahold of Apollo Maximus and those great textures? So far I've done everything with Simon. You'd be surprised what you can get out of him.
Tell me if you like it. By the way, I love all your stuff, and I got onto Cox and Co to look it up. Very nice. Now it's on my computer and people are going to think I'm strange...but I already know that if they found my computer and saw some of my own pictures they'd put me in a mental institution. Whatever.

First, let me say that you have as much right as me to model a CG Holmes and play with him in public. (Um. That didn't come out right, lol.)
Second, I like your android stuff very much, and your Simon character has a lot of John Cleese, which tickles my funny bone. I see you braved the dynamic hair! Incidentally, I started off doing Holmes based on Simon as well, and my Holmes also looked like John Cleese.
Look through the Readme and FAQ very carefully, because Apollo is very different from Simon. He has tons of morphs and scaleing possibilities. If you have any problems with him, just give me a holler. But above all, have fun!
The texture I use for my Holmes is also free. You can download it here: [link]
The texture I use for Watson is Jepe's Dick for Apollo Maximus, available at renderosity. If you're not registered there, do it now. [link] has the largest repository for Poser freebies that I know. You'll end up having more props than you know what to do with.
And if there's anything else I can help you with Poser-wise, just, well, you know.
